Restoration

It was in June 2010 that Alan uttered the brave words "We could do something with that" to Dora when first setting eyes on the pile of bricks that they eventually turned into the stunning home in which they live today.

Over the next 3 years they negotiated, designed, planned, worked, paid, scrimped, argued, cried, laughed and finally cheered the project to a successful conclusion.....all under the watchful eyes of Channel 4's cameras and with the help, guidance, support and humour of architect, George Clarke.

Not only did they manage to retain the robust industrial character in both the restored building and the interior fittings but they also incorporated the best of modern technology to minimise heating costs and maintain an exceptional internal air quality.

The project won Highly Commended in the prestigious RICS Building Conservation Awards for 2014.
